By working with a knowledgeable participating contractor, you can take advantage of Home Upgrade incentives by installing 3 or more measures from a flexible menu of options that will earn you points towards incentives and rebates. The more points, the higher the incentives. Your rebates and incentives depend on the total points you earn—up to $3,000.
Customers must install at least one base measure and can receive bonus points for installing additional base measures.
Below are some examples of typical options. Actual points will vary based upon your utility provider and your specific home. Confirm point values with your contractors.
Whole house air sealing
Attic insulation and air sealing
High performance dual-pane windows
Efficient gas water heater
Efficient electric water heater
Gas on-demand water heater
Air conditioner replacement
You might want the Home Upgrade if:
- You want a quick, lower-cost solution.
- You haven't installed any of the required measures.
You may also add solar thermal or photovoltaic electric upgrades enrolled in the California Solar Initiative rebate program to this package. However solar upgrades alone do not qualify for the Energy Upgrade California Rebate or emPower financing. Your contractor will be able to assist you in adding solar to either a Home Upgrade or Advanced Home Upgrade.
