Rebates and Incentives

Express Solutions
Receive cash rebates for upgrading existing equipment with new energy efficient options.  You’ll be paid on a per-unit basis, up to 100% of the project’s cost for qualified improvements to lighting, climate control, office equipment, refrigeration, food-service equipment, and water heating.

Customized Solutions
Receive customized utility incentives are for energy efficiency upgrades that are more tailored to a specific project or building.

Retrocommissioning (RCx)
RCx is a systematic process for identifying less-than-optimal performance in a facility’s equipment, lighting and control systems and making the necessary adjustments. Local utilities provide incentives for RCx activities that result in energy savings.

California Solar Initiative (CSI)
CSI provides rebates and an approved list of contractors for building owners interested in installing solar electric and solar water heating systems.

Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)
SGIP provides financial incentives for business customers installing new, qualifying equipment for generating energy such as wind turbines, advanced energy storage, biogas, fuel cells and CHP technologies.

Demand Response
Demand Response programs offer incentives to businesses that reduce the energy use of their facilities during times of peak demand. Find out how your business can benefit and help alleviate the strain on California’s power supply.


Zero Percent On-Bill Financing
On-Bill Financing (OBF) helps businesses finance qualifying energy efficiency projects and repay the loan in monthly installments via the businesses’ utility bill. On-Bill Financing funds projects for zero interest and no fees and reduces monthly electricity usage.

Technical Advice and Assistance

Benchmarking helps increase the energy efficiency and reduce operating costs of commercial buildings.  Building owners may also be required to disclose their building’s energy performance benchmark rating before it can be sold, leased or refinanced.   The utilities provide online and in-person  training on how to benchmark a building.

Smart Build Santa Barbara (SB2) Program
The County’s Planning and Development Department offers free technical advice from local experts and time and money saving incentives such as reduced plan check fees for applicants who incorporate energy efficiency into their developments.

Sustainability Circles
This program provides access to leaders in sustainability that coach small and mid-sized business customers to help them improve profitability, operational efficiency and employee/community engagement by adopting comprehensive sustainability practices.

Green Business Program (GBP)
The GBP offers incentives and assistance to encourage businesses to implement voluntary actions to protect, preserve, and improve the environment beyond what current laws require. Businesses meeting these criteria can be certified as green businesses and are listed on an online directory.

Energy Upgrade California (EUC)
Energy Upgrade California™ is a state initiative to help Californians take action to save energy and conserve natural resources. The program provides tips for businesses on how to save energy and water.

New Construction

Savings By Design
Savings By Design encourages high-performance, non-residential building design and construction by providing financial incentives, detailed analysis, and design support.

California Advanced Homes Program
CAHP offers generous financial incentives and "bonus kickers" to help builders and architects create environmentally friendly, energy-efficient communities for potential new home buyers.


WaterWise Santa Barbara County
The Santa Barbara County Water Agency and local water providers offer rebates, education, helpful advice and free water check-ups for homes and businesses to help them save water and money. Find out what’s available in your area.
